Collection: Barbara Stok

Barbara Stok is an award-winning graphic novelist and comic artist from Groningen. What began with self-published stories about life in the city's punk scene grew into an unmistakable style of storytelling: direct, witty and full of big questions hidden in everyday moments. Her drawings make room for humour, rebellion, doubt and the search for a good life.

In acclaimed graphic novels such as Vincent, about Vincent van Gogh, and The Philosopher, the Dog and the Wedding, about the ancient Greek philosopher Hipparchia, Barbara makes art, history and philosophy wonderfully human. Her work has travelled far beyond Groningen, but its independent spirit feels right at home here.
